travels in USA

In 2002 I travelled through
the USA coast to coast and back again.
In 2003 and 2004 I went back again to see some more of the east coast.
During my trips I was armed with a 0,5 mm fine liner
refill pencil and some watercolours and colour pencils.
I drew up whatever I saw in pocket size sketchbooks.
I worked. everywhere. In cities and
countryside, airports, bars on parties in the bus and in the subways.
Whether I was waiting in JFK or riding Greyhound through the huge continent I
almost always was trying to depict what I saw and what caught my eye
For
a short period I could paint larger canvasses as I was travelling along the
west-coast with painter friend Cody in his car.
And yes by the end of my trip in 2002 my friend Jennifer and her friend Rick
organised me a party where a canvas of 9x36 foot was stretched out for me.
In one night I filled it with over 25 life size
portraits of the people that came to assist this party.
Americans like to think big. I loved it.
The pages here below show what I have
accomplished so far in the streets and landscapes of the USA.
My plans are to return to the USA in 2008 - 2009 to
work some more in this fascinating continent.
